    Literacy Daily 5

  • What is Literacy Daily 5?

Daily 5 is a literary structure that teaches independence and gives children the skills needed to create a lifetime love of reading and writing. It consists of five tasks that are introduced individually. When introduced to each task, the children discuss what it looks like, sounds like, feels like to engage in the task independently. Then, the children work on building their stamina until they are successful at being independent while doing that task.

    Daily 5 Structure At Home

These videos were created by the co-creator of the Daily 5 (a structure I use in the classroom). This resource is intended to help your child build independence in reading at home. Once your child is comfortable reading independently, you can start adding other activities such as math and writing, which would follow the same structure.
