    • What is Number Sense?
      • Number sense is a person’s ability to understand numbers and number relationships in order to flexibly and fluidly solve problems that are not restricted to following traditional algorithms.

    • Why is Number Sense Important?
      • Number sense encourages students to think flexibly and promotes confidence with numbers. Students who lack a strong number sense have trouble developing the foundation needed for simple arithmetic and more complex mathematics. Number sense is not memorizing math facts or formulas, but establishing intuitive math skills so students can apply their knowledge in different situations or settings with fluidity.
