I have taught at Gess Elementary since November of 1984. I was hired as a 1st grade teacher. The next year I was moved to 2nd grade after a week of school, and stayed there for 4 more years. Then I moved to 3rd grade where I have been ever since.
When I was a kid, summer was fine, but I always loved school and couldn't wait to get back every fall. I still feel the same way. I grew up in Spokane and went to Westview, Salk, and Shadle. After graduating I went to school at Spokane Falls Community College and got my AA degree. I worked construction for a couple years, and then decided to become a teacher. I got married and went off to Washington State University where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Ed. I subbed in Spokane for 6 months and was hired in Chewelah. I went on to get my Master's Degree from Gonzaga in Curriculum and Administration.
I have 2 children. My daughter is at college in Indiana. My son and his wife, Ashley, are in Wyoming going to college.
I like to camp, barbecue, work in my shop, and do crossword puzzles with Mrs. Kersey!
